Terms of Service

Template — have a lawyer review before you operate this publicly.

1. Who may use the service

Friends Talk is strictly for adults aged 18 or over. Minors may not use the service under any circumstances, including with the consent or supervision of a parent or guardian. You must confirm your age before a conversation begins.

2. Community rules

While using the service you must not:

There is zero tolerance for child sexual abuse or exploitation. Accounts and devices involved are permanently banned and referred to the appropriate authorities.

3. Moderation and enforcement

Text and images are screened automatically before delivery, and reports from users are reviewed. We do not and cannot monitor every conversation. Enforcement is proportionate and may include blocking a message, ending a session, temporarily suspending access, or permanently banning a device or network address.

4. Peer-to-peer connections

Voice calls connect the two participants' devices directly. This is what keeps audio private from us, but it means the other participant's software may be able to observe your public network address. If this concerns you, use a VPN. By using voice chat you acknowledge this characteristic of the technology.

5. Paid features

Core voice and text chat are free. Optional paid features may be offered through a third-party payment processor acting as merchant of record. Refunds follow that processor's published policy, and consumers in jurisdictions with statutory withdrawal rights retain them.

6. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that you will be matched, that a conversation will be pleasant, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not responsible for the identity, statements, or conduct of anyone you are matched with.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid in the preceding twelve months or a nominal sum. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including mandatory consumer rights.

8. Changes

These terms may change. Material changes will be announced prominently before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that point means you accept the revised terms.

9. Governing law

Insert the governing jurisdiction for the entity operating this deployment. Consumers retain the mandatory protections of their country of residence.
