Why voice instead of video
Video-based random chat has a well-known failure mode. Removing the camera removes most of it.

Common questions
Is it free?
Yes. Voice chat, text chat, filters, and the friend list cost nothing and always will. An optional premium tier adds a voice-based gender preference filter and removes ads — but nothing about the core conversation is paywalled.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no signup, no email, no password. You are given a throwaway display name for the duration of a session, and it disappears when you leave.
Is my conversation recorded?
No. Audio travels directly between your browser and the other person's browser and is never stored. Random text messages are relayed in memory and never written to disk.
Can the other person see my IP address?
Be aware that this is possible. Direct peer-to-peer audio is what keeps calls fast and private from us, but it does mean the two browsers exchange network addresses. If that matters to you, use a VPN. When a direct connection cannot be established, the call falls back to a relay server instead.
How is the gender filter possible without profiles?
It estimates from voice pitch characteristics in real time. It is an estimate, not a verified attribute, so treat it as a preference rather than a guarantee. Nothing about it is stored.
What happens if someone behaves badly?
Block them and they will never be matched with you again on that device. Report them and the session is flagged for review. Text and images are screened automatically before delivery, and serious violations lead to bans.
Is there an age limit?
Yes — the service is strictly for adults 18 and over. Minors are not permitted to use it under any circumstances.
